Skylight Telescopes Update

Skylight Telescopes: an update.

It’s been some time since I last advertised here, so I felt an update was in order...

Calendar:

  • See the December issue of Astronomy Now for the article: ‘Best of British’…
  • See the ‘New Products’ section in the February issue of Astronomy (USA) magazine…
  • Astrofest 2011/London, February 4th & 5th. See us upstairs on Stand 44.
  • NEAF (North East Astronomy Forum) 2011/New York, USA. April 16th & 17th

Skylight Refractors.

The Skylight F15m: to be announced (see below)

The Skylight F13: See this all-new refractor for the first time at Astrofest in London!

The original Skylight F15: I have several objectives remaining that were never used in the first run, and I am currently finishing what will be the last of the original run of the Skylight F15.  There will be a second run at some point, but this will almost certainly be built around a new objective lens.  This could well mean some design changes in the next version.

Skylight refractors will always remain pure to this design goal; being a fluid combination of Victorian design and modern materials.  With this in mind, they will never be manufactured in large numbers, and will only be built when appropriate materials are available (they will not be built with sub-standard components).

Skylight refractors now have a new finder!  Feedback I have received from users of the Skylight F15 indicated that the original finder’s narrow field of view could be improved upon.  With this in mind, the new finder is a modern 8x40 optical set, which I have re-manufactured into a more design-friendly body, with more appropriate dimensions.  This product is still undergoing testing, and pictures will follow soon...

This finder will be offered to all F15 owners as a free exchange if they should choose to swap it for the original version.

Astrofest 2011/London: Skylight will be exhibiting on the stage upstairs at Astrofest in London.  I can guarantee that you will find things on our stand that you simply will not find anywhere else in London that day!  Also, see the all-new Skylight F13 for the first time!

NEAF/New York: North East Astronomy Forum: In a huge leap across the Atlantic, Skylight Refractors will be shown at NEAF in New York, April 2011.  In addition to showing one of the most beautifully designed refractors available today, I have now committed to designing and building a small, but perfectly formed 60mm Skylight F15.  The Skylight F15m (mini) will make its’ debut in April at NEAF.
